Bodrum - pamper time

Our final stop was to the Turkish Port of Bodrum. After a long overnight bus ride from Cappadocia to Bodrum (it was about 13 hours) my friend and I finally arrived in our sanctuary. The bus ride from Cappa to Bodrum was a bit scary because we were the only two Chinese female passengers on board. Looking back, it was pretty ballsy of us to do this. I don't think I have ever gotten teary eyed from people omitting so much gas on the bus, it was a fart here, a fart there, everywhere. We held our breaths in a lot. So silly looking back.

Back to my sanctuary, as soon as we stepped into the hotel, this is what was ours to be for the remainder of our trip. The room, view, and service was impeccable. Best spaghetti with seafood I had during my vacation to Turkey.

The next two mornings we would all sit by the deck and stare out into the sea. I remembered sitting on the edge of the deck and just mesmerizing at the view. I even took a dip & swam across to that little deck you see in the pic. By night fall, we would hustle into town for dinner and some shopping.

The night life in Bodrum was a lot of fun. For some of us, it was our first time to an actual foam party. My friend met someone who looked like Mister Ed, and the whole time we were making fun of him. We're so mean. But it was really funny because they somehow managed to have a conversation with each other when he spoke no word of English and she didn't speak Turkish. My dear friend, this one is for you, doesn't he remind you of Mr. Ed too, only the camel is cuter =)

(I know I don't give a description of all my pictures because I did a bad job cataloguing it, hence I can't name half the places - argh!!)

Cappadocia is the land of fairy chimneys and in my mind, this is exactly where I imagined all the fairies once lived. Moments upon stepping into the great terrains of Goreme, I lost sight of modern day civilization and was brought to a world full of magic and wonders. Everywhere I turned it was as if I just walked into story book.

Brief History from Wikipedia:
The Cappadocia region is largely underlain by sedimentary rocks formed in lakes and streams, and ignimbrite deposits erupted from ancient volcanoes approximately 9 to 3 million years ago, during the late Miocene to Pliocene epochs. The rocks of Cappadocia near Göreme eroded into hundreds of spectacular pillars and minaret-like forms. The volcanic deposits are soft rocks that the people of the villages at the heart of the Cappadocia Region carved out to form houses, churches and monasteries. Göreme became a monastic center between 300—1200 AD.

I marvelled at every sight we came to visit, from the cool experience of staying in a cave hotel, to learning the artisanship of making beautiful carpets and kilims, to soaring above the sky in a hot air balloon - Mother Nature once at it's worse has created a beautiful land for all to admire n present day.

Cappadocia is so captivating & definitely a place where it's a photographer dream. You should definitely take in a moment to soak up the land and history. If there are days when you don't know if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I say there is.... =)

I had such an amazing time here looking at all these surreal landscapes.

A devilish smile that won my heart

I have traveled to many countries but the people of Turkey were the warmest I have encountered.

My favorite moment in Turkey was the innocence of these kids I met on my journey. As I was taking in the surroundings and capturing the sceneries, I caught sight of these two little brothers playing on the field.

As I was snapping away with my camera, the cutest thing happened. The older boy ran into the field and plucked a flower from the ground. He started running towards me with the flower.

As he handed me the flower, his younger brother followed suit. Look at his devilish smile as he plucked a flower too. That smile would melt any girls' heart.

His little brother also handed me the flower and he gave me a hug too. I felt really teary eyed when that happened. It was such a sweet and innocent moment which I think can only be found in a child. I kept those flowers throughout my trip. In essence these two little boys captured what my experience in Turkey was like foreigners to each other but just human beings getting along.

I bet they are both heartbreakers now, lucky ladies =)
